UK Convention 2018

From 9-11 March 2018 we have held the 1st EA regional convention in the UK at Douai Abbey in Berkshire

Members of 4 groups have come together to connect with each other, exchange experiences and ideas, get inspiration and feel that they are not alone.

We have had a big EA meeting and the following three topical sessions:

Session 1: Overview of EA in the UK (presentation of an UK EA website; our history, etc.)

Session 2: Sponsorship

Session 3: Promotion vs. attraction

We wish to meet again in 2019 at Douai Abbey for the 2nd EA UK convention

Here is a statement about the convention by one of the participants:

Way back in March, about 15 of us came together at the beautiful Douai Abbey in Berkshire for the first ever U.K. EA Convention.

We had a one day Convention on Saturday 10th March, with the option to stay Friday and/or Saturday nights in the very comfortable Douai Abbey accommodation.  You could pay either for delicious meals provided by the Abbey kitchen or bring you own packed lunch for the Saturday when we all ate together in the Abbey guest refectory (dining room).

Positives:

- We were, I believe, all encouraged by meeting other EA fellowship members
- We were able to exchange ideas on various topics, such as Sponsors and cross sharing.

- Long time members of EA or other fellowships were able to advise on group governance and principles for the UK EA website.

- We had a full one and a half hour fellowship meeting on the Saturday as well as the discussions

- It was a very uplifting, encouraging and motivating day.

- The possibility of staying meant that some of us had more time to 'fellowship' with  one another.

- Those who wished to were able to attend evening and morning services at the Abbey.

It was a very special day/weekend that inspired me to always carry on our St  Albans group, however small.  It also inspired me to definitely attend next year's UK EA Convention: to be held again at Douai Abbey (dates to be confirmed in the autumn).
